Lil Peep’s second studio album, Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 2, featured this song as a bonus track on the deluxe edition (2018).
On September 19, 2018, the song was released as the album’s lead single, nearly a year after the singer’s death.

Lil Peep and fellow American rapper i Love Makonnen co-wrote the song “Sunlight on Your Skin,” which later became “Falling Down;” XXXTentacion is credited as a co-writer on the final version. After seeing a preview of the song on YouTube after Lil Peep’s death on November 15, 2017, following a Fentanyl-Xanax overdose, XXXTentacion reached out to iLoveMakonnen to record a verse.
This remake is Lil Peep’s highest-charting single in the US to date, peaking at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. Since then, the RIAA has triple-platinum certified the single (RIAA).
