Chiekezie Chukwudebelu, the budding artist with a petroleum engineering major, and a masters in Oil and Gas Engineering from the United Kingdom goes by the stage name, KEZIE an offshoot of his Native Nigerian name. With a sound that would be best described as pre-eminently afro-centric, created from the juxtaposition of Afrobeat and Hip-Hop, it is safe to say he is a man for the people. With strong influences from the old greats notably FELA, and inspiration drawn from life experiences as a Nigerian living in Nigeria with all the high highs and the low lows that comes
along with it, all combined to form a tightly knit package. Music has always been the passion and his unique talent
was evident all through University life both in Nigeria and the UK, he was known by others to be a bundle of talent and was regarded as a musical prodigy during his earlier days by the selected few he shared his passion with. KEZIE’s music is heavily influenced by his life experiences as well as many great artists past and present, which can be detected between the lines of his peculiar sound, His primary influences are, FELA, KANYE WEST, ASA, BRYMO, EBENEZER OBE.
