M.I Says Nigerian Rappers Paved the Way For Global Rappers That Are Rapping About Therapy – Nigerian Rap Icon, Jude Lemfani Abaga, popularly known as M.I Abaga has taken to social media to imply that Nigerian rappers have led the conversation about mental health, in reaction to a story by American Magazine
Complex that talks about Kendrick Lamar and Drake, rapping about therapy.
The Guy took to Twitter to share this, and an avid music follower would easily guess that M.I was referring to his ‘A Study On Self Worth: Yxng Denzel ‘ project which was released in 2018. The project shows a human and sometimes mentally flawed Abaga who lets the audience in on his state of mind and also lets them into his therapy sessions.
Four years later, M.I is putting it out there that long before your faves on the International scene started doing it, Nigerian rappers have.
